SHORTIES is pleased to announce our 2nd Rom-Com Writers Table Read competition!
Last year our winner bagged a commission for their idea as well as signing with a huge agent… how incredible!
We’re seeking another cohort of talented rom-com writers to showcase their creativity and sharpen their skills with this chance to get on a series of online workshops hosted by SHORTIES! A select few will be chosen to have their scripts read by professional actors, at a romance and wine SHORTIES Leeds event. After an audience vote, one writer will be crowned the RomCom Writers winner !
What’s Planned:
Workshops: 10 writers will be chosen to attend 4 online workshops.
Guest speakers: writers will be invited to online Q&As with industry professionals.
Live Table Read SHORTIES Event: 3 writers will be selected to have their scene performed in a live table read by professional actors.
What We Need from You:
A sample of your writing
A pitch for your rom-com idea. (A logline/one-pager etc)
It doesn’t matter if you’re represented or unrepresented - this competition is open to anyone!
What is a RomCom?
At SHORTIES, we believe romcoms provide fabulous entertainment for everyone who watches them. They are lighthearted stories where love takes centre stage, accompanied by laugh-out-loud moments. But it's up to you to decide what this love looks like: gay, straight, poly, between a woman and her plant, a man and the park he always walks through, or the deep, transformative love of friendship - we’re not giving any limits!
